Pencil Drawing Lesson

We began the term with an art lesson with Mr Shaskey.
He taught us how to create a still life drawing.  This is what we learnt during our lesson.

Pencil Drawings

The Big Three:
1.      Set the limits
2.      Draw the outline first
3.      Draw the big shapes

Tips:
·     Draw circular shapes as a square first then round off.
·     Identify where in relation to the middle of the picture the objects, handles etc are so you know where to place them.
·     Draw in main parts of shapes eg eyes, beaks, handles, wings.
·     Use ruler or pencil to get angle of shapes
·     The top edge of the kete is zig zagged.
·      Lines are drawn out from the edge to show weaving.
·     These lines are slightly curved
·     Shading and cross hatching is done using a drawing pencil held flat with index finger on top of pencil to guide it.
We learnt these tips when working with Mr. Shaskey, a visiting artist.
