Our class was divided into 2 groups to play a game. One group was given a bat and a ball and instructed to go and play a game that involved everybody. The second group was given a bat and a ball and Mrs Patten went over the rules for us to play French Cricket.
When our games had finished we shared our thoughts about how our games went and tried to come to some conclusions as to whether playing games where rules are clearly explained were better for all players that games with where no rules were given.
Most people thought it was more organised and we used our time better when the rules were explained. Some people liked being able to be creative and make up rules to use the bat and ball, but admitted that a lot of time was taken doing that which meant less game time.
We compared this to our class and school and decided that it is best to have some basic rules so people know where they stand but still allow people some creativity and choice beyond that.
