Haere Mai to Ruma Tekau Ma Tahi 2014

Kia ora katou to all our families and whanau as we begin the 2014 year of learning.
I am looking forward to meeting with all our students tomorrow and getting to know them over the next few weeks.
There will be a Kauri Team newsletter coming out this week and you will receive an email when it has been published.
For those of you who have had difficulty getting your stationery packs in time for the start of school don't be too concerned as we will manage for the first few days, if students can come prepared with some writing tools in the meantime that would be great.
The BYOD licence activity will be ready for use this week and can be found through the link on our blog page.
I look forward to meeting you in the next week or so and having a chance to talk with you about your child's learning in 2014.
Our main learning focus over the next 2 weeks will be developing our class learning plan, which you will receive the next week.
NB: We will be swimming on Fridays for the next few weeks please send your child to school with their swimming gear on these days.

Quadblogging Aotearoa
This term we are linking up with other classes in Aotearoa to gain an authentic audience for our students and their learning. We will be taking turns to read and comment on the other class's blogs. Already we have had comments on our blogs from the other schools which have been very positive and encouraging.

The other schools we are linking with are:
Laingholm School
Medbury School
Waikanae School

We will be commenting on a different school's blog posts each week, beginning with Laingholm School this week. It will be Medbury's turn in Week 2, Oaklands in Week 3 and Waikanae in Week 4.  This pattern will be repeated throughout the term.

My students did this in 2013 and we all found it a very motivating and empowering activity.

Find links to these blogs on the Quadblogging area on our right hand sidebar.

Look out for comments from our quadbloggers.
