Farming

Farming stared in 1850 - 1860 in Canterbury . It was mostly sheep but than it began to expand with more animals e.g cows , hens , horses , pigs and so-on

DAIRY FARMS

When they started dairy farms they only had 1-2 cows or animals that producecd dairy .In the dairy farms cream was made from milk , the cream was also turned into butter .They had a machine that would separate that would separate the milk from the cream and the cream from the butter .To use the machine you would have to turn a handle on  the side which would separate and mix the things inside

WHAT THEY WORE

The farmers wore gumboots to keep the mud and droppings of their shoes. They also wore overalls to keep the clothes underneth slightly clean .The farmers that didnt wear overalls would normally wear a cut off tee shirt which means they would of cut of the sleeve's, and charhartt jeans which is a brand of jeans ,the jeans are denim

KIDS
Kid had a small farm with a few cows they milked every morning .They also had to collect eggs from the hens every morning and grow vegetables . They sold the eggs vegetables and milk at the market and eat the rest

It's good we have farming and farmers because we would have to go hunting for our food
